Hadnall Sew ‘n’ Sews

On Wednesday last we formed our new committee for the next two years. Di Clark volunteered to be Chairperson supported by Jan Tonge who will take on the reporting of our news etc. and cover the meetings in Di's absence. Fortunately for us Sue Collins and Irene Dabbs are willing to continue in their respective roles - namely Secretary and Treasurer which they both do so well.

Di's first task on taking the chair was to thank our outgoing chair people (Chris and Anna) for all their hard work over the last two years. Happily for us they intend to keep knitting.  The next task (probably the nicest we have!) was to allocate money raised at our Christmas Fayre. Our policy is to use the money to benefit our village - the organisations/environment etc. or local charities.  We had already allocated £100 to the church for extra lights on the tree (at Christmas) and have now donated a further £700 for a new lawn mower and a strimmer. The folks who look after our churchyard do a brilliant job and one which enhances the look of our village for all our residents.  Having bought two display boards (£400) for the village hall we have given them another £200 to purchase a third. Again our thinking is that the village hall serves all residents and these boards will be available for use by all organisations etc.

We have allocated £100 to the Tuesday morning toddlers group to be used for either a summer outing or a Xmas party.  One of our most thriving organisations is the bowling club. They encourage young people to learn to play and to join the club so we have given them £150 to be used to purchase equipment specifically for coaching youngsters.  We are mindful that the new properties will bring in young families. There is little in the Village for youngsters so if there are any parents or friends out there who would like to set up some form of recreation to address the problem we would be happy to pay to rent the hall for several sessions while you "test the water" as it were.   Please contact either Di 210534 or Jan 210665 to discuss your ideas.

Finally we meet every second Wednesday at 1.30 in Irene Dabbs home. If you would like to join us please contact her on 210699. We knit, sew and chatter over a cup of tea. It is relaxed and informal and you don't have to be good at anything special just willing to help according to your own skills or talents. It could be just washing up !!!!
